The short version. This website uses no third-party analytics or advertising services, no tracking cookies and no social media plug-ins. We count page views with our own counter, without cookies and without IP addresses (see “Audience measurement”). We do not sell data and do not pass it on for advertising.
Visiting the website. Each time a page is opened, the web server processes technically necessary details: IP address, date and time, page requested, volume of data, referring page, browser and operating system. This keeps the site secure and stable (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Audience measurement without cookies. To see which pages are read and how visitors find us, we count page views with a small counter of our own on our web server. Only aggregated daily figures are stored: the page viewed and the type of source (for example a search engine, an AI search tool or the name of the referring website). We set no cookies, store no IP addresses, build no profiles and pass nothing on to third parties; no conclusions about individual persons are possible. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Hosting. The website is hosted by VivaWebHost on servers in the United States. When you open a page or fill in a form, your data is therefore transferred there.
Newsletter. To subscribe we need your email address and, if you like, your choice of topics. You receive an email with a confirmation link; the subscription takes effect only once you click it. We store the address, the topics, the language, the time and a shortened check value of your IP address from which the address cannot be recovered. The basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time, through the unsubscribe link in every email or with a message to us. After you unsubscribe we keep only what is needed to prove and honour it.
Webinars and events. To register you we process your name, your email address, your choice between attending and receiving the summary, the time and a shortened check value of your IP address. We use them to send you the confirmation, the access link and the materials (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). You receive further information about the professional circle and new analyses only if you expressly asked for it when registering (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). We delete registration data no later than 30 days after the event. Webinars run on Zoom; Zoom's privacy terms apply when you join.
Research tool. The question you enter, and the earlier turns of the same conversation, go through our server to a technical service provider we have engaged, with servers in Germany, which writes the answer. We do not pass on your IP address. To count the free searches per day we store, for no more than two days, a check value made from IP address and browser identifier, from which neither can be recovered. The research tool sets a technically necessary session cookie that expires when you close the browser; for members of the professional circle it holds the unlocked access. Please do not enter anything that could identify a patient. The basis is Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR.
Emailing us. When you write to us, we process your details in order to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). We delete the correspondence once it is dealt with and no legal duty to keep it applies.
When we write to you as a professional. We write to individual practices whose focus fits our subjects. We take name, practice address, email address and areas of focus from the practice's own website or from public professional directories. The basis is our interest in professional exchange (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time, most simply with a short reply; we will not write again and will record only that. For this correspondence we use the customer management system Close (Close, Inc., USA) on the basis of standard contractual clauses.
Recipients. Your data goes only to the service providers we need for hosting, email, the research tool and events, and only as far as necessary.
Your rights. You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You can object to processing based on our legitimate interest, and withdraw consent at any time for the future. An email to info@ih-research.com is enough. You can also complain to a data protection authority: where you live, or the UK authority responsible for us, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). In Switzerland it is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (edoeb.admin.ch).
Children. The children's pages can be read without children entering anything. Newsletter, registrations and the research tool are meant for adults.
